FAQ

Fox Valley Food for Health provides our Healthy Meals Program to qualified individuals and families experiencing a serious health challenge (cancer diagnosis and/or treatment; major surgery and post-operative support; or other acute health crisis where support is needed)

We look for those individuals that may feel nutrient dense meals will support them in their personal plan of wellness and recovery.

For more information on our client criteria please visit our Become a Client page.

Our Client Care Coordinator connects with individuals and their families to determine the most supportive time to start receiving the meals. This often depends on individual treatment plans and personal situations. Based on program capacity you may be placed on our waiting list for a short period of time.  A Delivery Angel will be dedicated to your needs throughout your time in the program.

You will receive our Healthy Meals for an initial session of 8 to 12 weeks. Fox Valley Food for Health volunteers prepare and deliver nutritious meals to individuals and their families. We depend on the generous support of our community to make this possible.

If space in our program allows, we will accommodate requests from FFH clients wishing to participate in our ongoing Meals in a Snap (MIS) program.

We look for a commitment of 6 weeks at a time. We request a donation of $75 per week per person to help us defray our expenses for this additional coverage.

Deliveries are made once a week on Wednesdays. A Volunteer Delivery Angel will bring the food to your home between 9:30-11:00am. We require the client or family member to be home to receive the meals. Occasionally some special delivery requirements can be accommodated and will need to be discussed ahead of time with your Delivery Angel. Reusable containers are provided for the meals and we ask that they be returned cleaned each week to the program.

Information about any special dietary restrictions will be discussed during initial interviews. Should there be any changes to dietary needs while individuals and their families are receiving the meals, our Liaison will be there to support you. Not all Clients with allergies can be considered for the program.

We are not able to accommodate those who have any life-threatening food allergies.

*Our kitchen is not gluten-free, peanut or tree-nut free*

Our menus are primarily based on organic and nutrient-rich foods such as leafy greens, vegetables and fruits, supplemented by organic poultry and sustainable seafood. Each week you will receive three or four complete dinners (two vegetarian), two hearty soups, a salad and a healthy dessert made without refined sugar or refined flour.
